They attend daily mass at St. Mary's of the Lake and have made friends in the parish.No longer in traditional habits, you wouldn't know they were in a religious order, though the petite Sister Concetta often dresses in black. Don't let the dark color fool you. She has a good sense of humor and a joie de vivre to envy.Sister Concetta was 16 when she "felt called to religious life" at the Franciscan Order in Pittsburgh. A Franciscan priest and brother in the small parish where she lived was the model that influenced her decision to join the order.She was assigned to mission in Puerto Rico and Buy Cheap Jintropin Online later was invited to ministry in the Dominican Republic, where she worked with young women. For several years, she was co director of the campus mission at Syracuse University, working closely with the chaplain.When serving in campus ministry, Sister Concetta attended a clown workshop and incorporated it into her ministry. She also learned handwriting analysis, which she sometimes works into her retreats.At Stella Maris, Sister Concetta started a prayer shawl ministry. It is open to community members who like to knit and crochet gifts for those in need.They have made afghans for the Veterans Hospital in Syracuse and items for two "adopted families" from Burma, who are sponsored by St. Mary's parish. They made welcome packets of similar items for Joseph House in Syracuse, which supports unmarried expectant mothers.Sister Pat Larkin entered the Franciscan Order after high school, "because I liked how they were [doing] in their inner city work. I thought I'd love to do that."Her first mission was in the inner city, in Hoboken, where she worked with the tenement population. She taught school, from elementary to junior high school. In the summers, she volunteered at Covenant House, a group home for troubled youth, before becoming a full time staff member for 14 years.She worked mainly in group homes for children as a care worker and assistant house parent. She attended Hunter College at night to obtain a social work degree and later was transferred to headquarters in Syracuse, where she worked with women in training to become sisters.Before beginning full time retreat work, she was a chaplain at Syracuse and in leadership positions for the Sisters of St. Francis.Sister Pat has a ready smile and is enthusiastic about her mission and integrates the beauty she finds daily into a series of one day retreats titled A Day at the Lake. She presents weekend retreats that focus on personal relationships and prayerful meditation.On vacations, she goes camping in the Adirondacks, where she is surrounded by a different kind of beauty. Next year, she will celebrate her 50th year in the order.Among the many programs Sister Concetta presented was one to honor and Primobolan Novector "acknowledge the gifts our veterans have so freely given" to each of us."People who drive in say Primobolan Xbs they feel the peace of this place [Stella Maris]," Sister Concetta said.The "gathering room," where large meetings take place, overlooks the lake. Next door is the chapel of stone, wood and glass with a breathtaking view on either side of the carved figure of the risen Christ.The ecumenical group of pastors in Skaneateles meet there once a month. A group of applied philosophers comes annually with the purpose of doing physical labor in their program by working on the grounds.Different denominations go there on retreat. The center is open to non profit and educational organizations "with an idea of spiritual development," Sister Concetta said.Four sisters live at Stella Maris, and one is there at all times. Their staff, Sister Concetta said, is outstanding and treats the house like their own. Far from living a life apart, Sisters Pat and Concetta are involved daily with people from all over the region.
